| When
Greg Forchic started a small printing company in 1974, he
had no idea that AFL Web Printing would become one of the
premier web printing operations on the East Coast.
“Back
then, my dad’s goal was to provide a quality product
for those who chose not to (or couldn’t afford to)
invest in their own printing equipment and that is still
true today,” said Greg’s son Dennis G. Forchic,
president of AFL.
At
its current 110,000-square foot Voorhees plant, AFL employs
over 250 people to produce and distribute 8.5 million newspapers
each week for nearly 250 customers.
The
company recently announced a major expansion of its operations
with a new facility in northern New Jersey.
Construction
is underway to outfit a 148,000-square foot building in
Secaucus. It is expected to open in early 2008.
The
new facility will have the capacity to house up to six press
lines with a full complement of ancillary services including
inserting, bindery, mailing, MLM, circulation development,
advertising/digital support and distribution services.
The
first press being installed is a 12-tower, 2-folder DGM
440 single-wide, single round and fully automatic. The press
will have the capacity to produce 90,000 papers per hour
with full color available on every page.
“With
easy access to major transportation corridors such as the
New Jersey Turnpike and New York bridges and tunnels, the
Secaucus facility is positioned well to serve a vibrant
and growing tri-state market,” said Mark Henderson,
executive vice president of AFL.
When
fully staffed, the Secaucus operation will employ more than
150 skilled craftsmen and service employees.

“Our
market research indicated a need for additional services
in the North Jersey/New York market and establishing a presence
there was an easy decision,” said Forchic.
“The initial reaction by customers in the market has
been very encouraging and we can’t wait to start production,”
he said.
Henderson
said, “It has long been our goal to be the publisher’s
resource of choice. We are passionate about creating long-term
partnerships that contribute to sustained profitability
for both organizations. This new facility reinforces that
commitment to our customers.”
